PROPRIETARY AL 17-4 Heat Treatments


  • Material is furnished in the annealed condition. This is also called the solution heat treated condition, or Condition A. Annealing is conducted by heat treating at approximately 1040°C (1900°F) to 1065°C (1950°F) and cooling to room temperature.
    The annealed material is precipitation hardened by heat treatments at 482°C (900°F).
    After Precipitation heat treatment:
    H900: heat at 482°C ± 5 (900°F ± 10) for 60 minutes ± 5 min
    H925: heat at 496°C ± 5 (925°F ± 10) for 4 hours ± 0.25 h
    H1025: heat at 552°C ± 5 (1025°F ± 10) for 4 hours ± 0.25 h
    H1075: heat at 579°C ± 5 (1075°F ± 10) for 4 hours ± 0.25 h
    H1100: heat at 593°C ± 5 (1100°F ± 10) for 4 hours ± 0.25 h
    H1150: heat at 621°C ± 5 (1150°F ± 10) for 4 hours ± 0.25 h.
