PROPRIETARY CHRONIFER 17-4 PH Heat Treatments
- Forming: Hot: 950 – 1180 °C, slow heating to 800°C, than faster up to the forming temperature of 1150 – 1180°C, cooling in water, oil or air. An anneal must follow the hot forming operation. Cold: Limited because of the strong cold work hardening. Welding: A 200 – 300°C stress relieving or an annealing is recommended in order to ensure the adequacy of the mechanical properties of the welding joint. Before aging: Solution anneal: 1020 – 1050°C, Water, oil, or air quench: function of the size of the parts. Aging: P: to the achievable strength Rm H: to the aging temperature in °F (P800 / H1150M) Solution anneal; Aging: 760°C/2h/air + 620°C/4h/air; Minimum tensile strength (MPa) 800 / 795 (P930 / H1150) Solution anneal; Aging: 620°C/4h/air; Minimum tensile strength (MPa) 930 (P960 / H1100) Solution anneal; Aging: 590 / 595°C/4h/air; Minimum tensile strength (MPa) 960 / 965 (H1075) Solution anneal; Aging: 580°C/4h/air; Minimum tensile strength (MPa) 1000 (P1070 / H1025) Solution anneal; Aging: 550°C/4h/air; Minimum tensile strength (MPa) 1070
