MS X17CrNi16-2 Heat Treatments


  • Hot forming (slow cooling): 1100-800°C; +A - Annealing (furnace or air cooling): 680-800°C; +QT1 - Quenching at 950 to 1050°C and cooling in oil or air. If heat treatment is carried out in a continuous furnace, the upper part of the range specified is usually preferred, or even exceeded. Tempering temperature at 600 to 650°C; +QT2 - Quenching at 950 to 1050°C and cooling in oil or air. Tempering temperature at 750 to 800°C + 650 to 700°C. In cases where the nickel content is on the lower side of the range, a single tempering at 620°C to 720°C may be sufficient.
