B.S. 1.4057 Heat Treatments
- A: Annealed at 600-800°C, furnace or air cooled.
QT800: Quenched at 1020-1080°C, oil cooled. Tempered at (580-630°C) + (550-650°C).
QT900: Quenched at 1020-1080°C, oil cooled. Tempered at (540-600°C) + (520-640°C). - Hot forming: 1100-800°C, slow cooling; Annealing (+A) (Double annealing might be advisable): 680-800°C, air or furnace cooling; Quenching (+QT800): 950-1050°C, oil or air cooling; (If heat treatment is carried out in a continuous furnace, the upper part of the range specified should usually be preferred, or even exceeded); Tempering: 750-800°C + 650-700°C (In the case that the nickel is at the lower side of the range specified, a single tempering at 620 to 720°C may be sufficient); Quenching (+QT900): 950-1050°C, oil or air cooling; (If heat treatment is carried out in a continuous furnace, the upper part of the range specified should usually be preferred, or even exceeded); Tempering: 600-650°C.
