ASME 1.4021 Heat Treatments
- Hot forming at 1100 to 800°C, slow cooling
Annealing (+A) at 730 to 790°C;
Quenching (+QT) at 950 to 1050°C, air or oil cooling and Tempering at 200 to 350°C;
Quenching (+QT650) at 950 to 1010°C, air or oil cooling and Tempering at 700 to 780°C;
Quenching (+QT750) at 950 to 1010°C, air or oil cooling and Tempering at 620 to 700°C;
Temperatures of annealing, quenching and tempering shall be agreed for simulated heat-treated test pieces;
If heat treatment is carried out in a continuous furnace, the upper part of the range specified is usually preferred, or even exceeded - Hot working (slow cooling): 1100-800°C; +A - Annealing (air cooling): 745-825°C
+QT700 - Quenching (air or oil cooling): 950-1050°C; Tempering: 650-750°C
+QT800 - Quenching (air or oil cooling): 950-1050°C; Tempering: 600-700°C.
