B.S. EN 24 Heat Treatments
- Forging, rolling and stamping at 1200°C. Finish above 900°C. Retarded cooling is advisable for large or intricate sections.
Annealing at 820°C to 850°C. Furnace cool.
Softening (sub-critical annealing) at 630°C to 660°C. Air or furnace cool.
Hardening at 820°C to 850°C. Oil quench.
Tempering for 100 ton condition at 180°C to 2500°C. Air cool.
For other purposes at 550°C to 660°C. Air cool.
