PROPRIETARY CarTech 15Cr-5Ni Stainless Heat Treatments
- Solution treatment: Heat at 1038°C ± 14°C (1900°F ± 25°F) for 0.5h, cool to below 32°C (90°F) so that the material is completely transformed to martensite. Sections under 76 mm can be oil quenched and sections over 76 mm should be rapidly air cooled. Do not use in this condition without age hardening due to low toughness, poor impact strength and susceptibility to stress-corrosion cracking.
Age:
Heat Treatment - Condition H900 - (Precipitation or Age Hardened): Heat solution-treated material at 482°C (900°F) for 1h and air cool.
Heat Treatment - Condition H925, H1025, H1075, H1100, H1150 - (Precipitation or Age Hardened): Heat solution-treated material at specified temperature ± 8°C (± 15°F) for 4h and air cool.
Heat Treatment - Condition H1150M - (Precipitation or Age Hardened): Heat solution-treated material at 760°C ± 8°C (1400°F ± 15°F) for 2h, air cool. Then heat at 621°C ± 8°C (1150°F ± 15°F) for 4h and air cool.
