B.S. L 77 Heat Treatments
- Solution treat by heating at a temperature of 500 +/- 5°C and quenching in water at a temperature not less than 40°C not more than 70°C, unless otherwise agreed by the parent design firm and the manufacturer; Precipitation treat by heating uniformly for the requisite period at a temperature between 160°C and 190°C (165°C 12 to 18h, 175°C 9 to 12h and 185°C 3 to 6h).
