IS 431 Heat Treatments
- Annealing at 750 - 800°C, furnace or air cooled.
Quenching and tempering: Hardening at 980 - 1030°C, oil quenching or air cooling, tempering at 630 - 700°C.
Softening temperature: 620 - 670°C, furnace or air cooling. - Hot forming at 1100-800°C, slow cooling.
Annealing (+A) at 680-800°C, furnace or air cooling.
Quenching and tempering (+QT1): heating at 950-1050°C, quenching in oil or air, tempering at 750-800°C + 650-700°C. In case where the nickel content is on the lower side of the range, a single tempering at 620-720°C can be sufficient.
(+QT2): Heating at 950-1050°C, quenching in oil or air, tempering at 600-650°C.
