PROPRIETARY 40NiCrMo7 Heat Treatments
- Hot forming: 1100 - 900°C. Normalizing: 860°C, air cooling. Quenching: 850°C, oil or polymer cooling. Quenching: 830°C, water cooling. Tempering: 550 - 650°C, air cooling. Stress relieving: 50°C under the temperature of tempering. Soft annealing: 680°C, air cooling. Isothermal annealing: 800°C furnace cooling to 640 after, air cooling. Full annealing: 800 - 830°C, furnace cooling. End quench hardenability test: 850°C, water cooling. Mechanical properties at different tempering temperatures obtained after quenching oil at 830°C.
