ASTM A 564 S35500 Heat Treatments
- Solution treated at 1040°C ± 15°C (1900 ± 25°F), quenched, held not less than 3h at -73°C (-100°F) or lower.
Equalized and over-tempered at 775 ± 30°C (1425 ± 50°F) for not less than 3h, cooled to room temperature, heated at 580 ± 15°C (1075 ± 25°F) for not less than 3h.
Hardening:
Time refers to minimum time material is at temperature and may be extended to obtain required ductility properties.
Unless otherwise noted, temperatures shown are suggested temperatures and may be varied to obtain required tensile properties.
Intermediate temperatures must meet the ductility requirements of the next highest suggested hardening or aging temperature, or both.
When air cooling is specified, gases other than air may be used.
H1000: Heated at 955°C (1750°F), for not less than 10 min, but not more than 1 h. Water quenched. Cooled to not higher than -73°C (-100°F). Held for not less than 3 h. Tempered at 540°C (1000°F), held for not less than 3 h.
