ISO SS Type 6 Heat Treatments
- Bars, forgings and wire rods:
Solution treated (ST): 1040 ± 15°C, hold 3 h max, cool to 20°C or less. Heat to 775 ± 10°C, hold 3 h, cool to room temperature. Heat to 580 ± 10°C, hold 3 h, cool in air or water.
Precipitation hardened (R117): 955 ± 10°C, 1 h per 25 mm - 1 h max. Rapid cool to 20°C max, cool to - 75°C max, hold 3 h, warm to room temperature. Heat to 540 ± 10°C, hold 3 h, cool in air or water.
Precipitation hardened (R137): 955 ± 10°C, 1 h per 25 mm - 1 h max. Rapid cool to 20°C max, cool to - 75°C max, hold 3 h, warm to room temperature. Heat to 400 ± 10°C, hold 3 h, cool in air or water.
Plate:
Solution treated (ST): 1040 ± 15°C, hold 3 h max, cool to 20°C or less. Heat to 775 ± 10°C, hold 3 h, cool to room temperature. Heat to 580 ± 10°C, hold 3 h, cool in air or water.
