MIL 300M Heat Treatments
- (a) Normalize at 927°+/-14°C (1700° +/- 25°F) for 1 hour. (b) Austenitized at 871°+/-14°C (1600°+/- 25°F) for 1 hour. (c) Quenched in oil at 24-60°C (75-140°F). (d} Double tempered at 302°+/-5.6°C (575°+/-15°F) for 2-4 hours.
- Normalizing temperature range 1675-1725°F, air quenched; Annealing temperature range 1525-1575°F; Furnace cool to 1000°F or below; (Recommended subcritical anneal temperature is 1250°F); Austenitizing temperature range 1575-1625°F; Medium for quenching: oil.
