SAE 6419 Heat Treatments
- Normalized, quenched and tempered: Normalized by heating to 927 ± 14°C (1700 ± 25°F), holding at heat for 60 ± 5 minutes, and cooling in air, hardened by heating to 871 ± 14°C (1600 ± 25°F), holding at heat for 60 ± 5 minutes, and quenching in oil, and double tempered by heating to 302 ± 6°C (575 ± 10°F), holding at heat for 2 ± 0.2 hours, cooling in air to room temperature, reheating to 302 ± 6°C (575 ± 10°F), holding at heat for 2 ± 0.2 hours and cooling in air.
