CSN 1.4606 Heat Treatments

  • Hot working (air, oil or water cooling): 1100-950°C
    +AT - Solution annealing (water or oil cooling): 970-990°C (not suitable for direct application, prompt precipitation hardening after solution annealing is recommended to avoid cracking.);
    +P880 - Solution annealing (water or oil cooling): 970-990°C, Precipitation hardening (air cooling): 720°C (16 hours).

    Hot formed conditions:
    1U - Hot formed, not heat treated, not descaled.
    1C - Hot formed, heat treated, not descaled.
    1E - Hot formed, heat treated, mechanically descaled.
    1D - Hot formed, heat treated, pickled, coated (optional).
    1X - Hot formed, heat treated, rough machined.
    1G - Hot formed, heat treated, descaled, rough machined or shaved in the case of rod.
    Cold processed conditions:
    2H - Finishes 1E, 1D or 1X, cold processed, coated (optional).
    2D - Finish 2H, heat treated, pickled and skin- passed (optional), coated (optional).
    2B - Finishes 1E, 1D or 1X, cold processed, mechanically smoothed.
    2G - Finishes 2H, 2D or 2B, centreless ground, mechanically smoothed (optional).
    P - Finishes 2H, 2D, 2B or 2G, specular polishing.
