SAE 5356 Heat Treatments
- Homogenization heat treatment (when specified): heat to 1149°C ± 14°C (2100°F ± 25°F), hold at heat for not less than 90 minutes, and cool as required.
Solution heat treatment: heat to 1038°C ± 14°C (1900°F ± 25°F), hold at heat for 1 hour per 25 mm of maximum cross-section, and cool to below 32°C (90 °F) at a rate equivalent to an air cool or faster.
Precipitation heat treatment (H1100): heat to 593°C ± 8°C (1100°F ± 15°F), hold at heat for 4 hours ± 0.25 and cool in air.
