DIN 1.7711 Heat Treatments
- For diameters <= 100 mm: (+QT) Quenched: 880-950°C, cooled in water or oil, Tempered: 670-720°C.
For diameters > 100 to 160 mm:(+QT) Quenched: 940-970°C, cooled in water or oil, Tempered: 600-700°C. - Hot forming: 1100-850°C;
Hardening, quenching or solution annealing (cooling in oil or air): 880-930°C;
Tempering or age hardening or precipitation hardening: 670-730°C; min. 2h
Stress relieving annealing: 570-640°C.
Because of its importance with regard to embrittlement, it is not permissible to go above the quenching temperature or below the tempering temperature quoted.
