B.S. 708 M 40 Heat Treatments
- Bright bar shall be delivered in one of the following conditions: H+T+T/G(R), H+T+T/G(S), H+T+T/G(T), H+T+T/G(U), H+T+T/G(V), H+T+T/G(W) - Hardened and tempered plus turned or ground H+T+CD(R), H+T+CD(S), H+T+CD(T), H+T+CD(U), H+T+CD(V), H+T+CD(W) - Hardened and tempered plus cold drawn or hardened and tempered plus cold drawn plus ground T,G or CD+FS - Turned, ground or cold drawn plus finally softened Hardening (quenching in oil): 860-890 C; Tempering:t 550-700 C
- Carburized for at least 1h at the hardening temperature between 800°C and 930°C. After cooling to room temperature they shall be reheated to the single quenching temperature and quenched in oil.
