CSN 14 221 Heat Treatments


  • Normalizing at 880 to 920°C, cooling in air.
    Tempering at higher temperatures at 680 to 720°C, cooling in air.
    Soft annealing at 680 to 720°C, cooling in air.
    Case-hardening in the gas at 900 to 930°C.
    Case-hardening in the powder at 860 to 900°C, cooling in a box or case hardening on air.
    Case-hardening in the salt bath at 890 to 910°C, cooling in air.
    Hardening at 810 to 840°C, cooling in oil or in a bath at 150-200°C.
    Tempering at 150 to 200°C, cooling in air.
    Refining hardening at 850 to 880°C, cooling in oil, thicker parts in water.
    Refining tempering according to the required strength and cooling in air.
