SAE A02060 Heat Treatments
- Temper T4
Sand Castings:
Solution Heat Treated (1) at 527(2) ± 6°C (980(2) ± 10°F), 14-20 hours;
Permanent Mold Castings:
Solution Heat Treated (1) at 527(2) ± 6°C (980(2) ± 10°F), 14-20 hours;
(1) Quench in water at 65 to100°C (150 to 212°F) except as noted.
(2) Step solution heat treat 2 h at 510°C (950°F) prior to 527°C (980°F) temperature to avoid eutectic meeting.
