SAE A201.0 Heat Treatments
- Solution heat treating: at 507-518°C and 2 hours of soaking time minimum, followed by treatment at 518-529°C and 8-24 hours of soaking time; T4 - temper after solution heat treatment; Aging (precipitation) heat treating: aging temperature 182-193°C and 5 hours of soaking time; T7 - temper after aging treatment
- Solution Heat Treatment: soak at 488°C ± 6°C (910°F ± 10°F) for 2 hours ± 0.25 hour, raise temperature to 510°C ± 6°C (950°F ± 10°F) and soak for 2 hours ± 0.25 hour, raise temperature to 529°C ± 6°C (985°F ± 10°F) and soak for not less than 12 hours, and quench and age at room temperature for not less than 72 hours. When approved by the cognizant engineering organization, soak at 510°C ± 6°C (950°F ± 10°F) for 2 hours ± 0.25 hour, raise temperature to 529°C ± 6°C (985°F ± 10°F), soak for not less than 8 hours, and quench and age at room temperature for not less than 72 hours.
