PROPRIETARY SITHERM S350R Heat Treatments
- Soft Annealing: heating 50°C/h, protect against oxidation and decarburization, 800 - 850°C, min. 4 hours, cooling 20°C/h, slow in furnace. From 600°C air cooling is possible. Stress Relieving: heating 100°C/h, protect against oxidation and decarburization, 600 - 650°C or 50°C under the last tempering temperature, min. 3 hours, cooling 20°C/h, slow and uniformly in the furnace. From approximately 200°C air cooling is possible. Hardening: heating 25 - 650°C, 150 - 220°C/h, 650 - 850°C < = 150°C/h, hold in furnace at 650°C/850°C until (T surface - T core) <= 110°C/60°C. Austenitising 1000 - 1020°C, soaking time 30 min after soaking of die surface and core: (T surface - T core) <= 12°C/60°C or 90 minutes. Tempering: heating 150 - 250°C/h, protect against oxidation and decarburization, 1st: 520 - 530°C, 2nd: Choose working hardness, 3rd: 20 - 30°C bellow 2nd tempering. 1 hour per 25 mm wall thickness based on the furnace temperature, minimum 2 hours. Cool in air or in the furnace to room temperature between tempering cycles.
