ASME 1.4542 Heat Treatments
- Hot forming at 1150 to 900°C, air cooling
Solution annealing (+AT) at 1025 to 1055°C (If heat treatment is carried out in a continuous furnace, the upper part of the range specified is usually preferred, or even exceeded.)
+P850: Solution annealing at 1025 to 1055°C, air cooling and Precipitation hardening 4h at 610 to 630°C
+P900: Solution annealing at 1025 to 1055°C, air cooling and Precipitation hardening 1h at 590 to 610°C
+P950: Solution annealing at 1025 to 1055°C, air cooling and Precipitation hardening 1h at 580 to 600°C
+P1070: Solution annealing at 1025 to 1055°C, air cooling and Precipitation hardening 1h at 540 to 560°C
+P1300: Solution annealing at 1025 to 1055°C, air cooling and Precipitation hardening 1h at 470 to 490°C
+SR630: Stress reliving min. 4h at 600 to 660°C. After martensitic transformation. Solution annealing at 1025°C to 1055°C will be necessary before precipitation hardening;
Temperatures of solution annealing shall be agreed for simulated heat-treated test pieces. - Hot working (furnace or air cooling): 1150-900°C
+AT - Solution annealing (air or oil cooling): 1030-1050°C (Not suitable for direct application, prompt precipitation hardening after solution annealing is recommended to avoid cracking)
+P800 (air or oil cooling): 1030-1050°C; Precipitation hardening (air cooling): 760°C (2 hours) + 620°C (4 hours)
+P930 (air or oil cooling): 1030-1050°C; Precipitation hardening (air cooling): 620°C (4 hours)
+P960 (air or oil cooling): 1030-1050°C; Precipitation hardening (air cooling): 590°C (4 hours)
+P1070 (air or oil cooling): 1030-1050°C; Precipitation hardening (air cooling): 550°C (4 hours).
