ASME SA-234 Grade WP911 Heat Treatments
- Fittings, after forming at an elevated temperature, shall be cooled to a temperature below the critical range under suitable conditions to prevent injurious defects caused by too rapid cooling, but in no case more rapidly than the cooling rate in still air.
Fittings shall be normalized in the temperature range of 1040 to 1080°C (1900 to 1975°F), and tempered in the temperature range of 740 to 780°C (1365 to 1435°F) as a final heat treatment.
Minimum tempering temperature shall be 730°C (1350°F).
Liquid quenching followed by tempering shall be permitted when approved by the purchaser.
