PROPRIETARY 7C27Mo2 Heat Treatments
- Hardening at 1030°C (1885°F) for 6 minutes, quenching in oil. Tempering time 30 minutes. Stress relieving may be performed between blanking and tumbling operations in order to remove blanking stresses. A maximum temperature of 350ºC (662ºF) for 30-60 minutes is recommended.
For medical strips austenitizing (Belt furnace) at 1050°C (1920°F) for 5 minutes (t = 2.5 mm), 6 minutes (t = 3.0 mm), 7 minutes (t = 3.25 mm), 8 minutes (t = 3.5 mm), 10 minutes (t = 3.75 mm), and 12 minutes (t = 4.0 mm). Quench as rapid as possible, for optimal result 600°C (1110°F) should be reached within 2 minutes or less. Tempering for 2 hours at 175°C (345°F) for HRC = 57 or at 225°C (435°F) for HRC = 55 or 350°C (660°F) for HRC = 53. For austenitizing (30 minutes) in Batch furnace temperature should be equalized at 850°C (1560°F) for 30 minutes to avoid unnecessary temperature variations. - Hardening temperature 1030°C (1885°F), strip thickness 3.5 mm (0.138 in.), holding time 6 minutes, quenching in oil.
Tempering time 30 minutes.
