ASTM A 564 S15700 Heat Treatments
- Solution treated at 1040 ± 15°C (1900 ± 25°F), quenched in water.
Hardening:
Time refers to minimum time material is at temperature and may be extended to obtain required ductility properties.
Unless otherwise noted, temperatures shown are suggested temperatures and may be varied to obtain required tensile properties.
Intermediate temperatures must meet the ductility requirements of the next highest suggested hardening or aging temperature, or both.
When air cooling is specified, gases other than air may be used.
RH950: Heated at 955°C (1750°F), for not less than 10 min, but not more than 1 h, cooled rapidly to room temperature. Cooled within 24 h to -73°C (-100°F ± 10 °F), held not less than 8 h. Warmed in air to room temperature. Heated to 510°C (950 °F), held 1 h, air cooled.
TH1050 (alternative treatment): Heated at 760°C (1400°F), held 90 min, cooled to 15 ± 3°C (55 ± 5°F) within 1 h. Held not less than 30 min, heated to 565°C (1050°F), held for 90 min, air cooled.
