Heat Treatments

  • Hot working (slowly cooling): 1200-1000°C<br>+A - Annealing (furnace or air cooling): 800-850°C<br>+QT - Quenching (oil cooling + deep freezing at -80°C): 950-1050°C, Tempering: at 180°C.<br><br>Hot formed conditions:<br>1U - Hot formed, not heat treated, not descaled.<br>1C - Hot formed, heat treated, not descaled. <br>1E - Hot formed, heat treated, mechanically descaled. <br>1D - Hot formed, heat treated, pickled, coated (optional).<br>1X - Hot formed, heat treated, rough machined.<br>1G - Hot formed, heat treated, descaled, rough machined or shaved in the case of rod. <br>Cold processed conditions:<br>2H - Finishes 1E, 1D or 1X, cold processed, coated (optional).<br>2D - Finish 2H, heat treated, pickled and skin- passed (optional), coated (optional). <br>2B - Finishes 1E, 1D or 1X, cold processed, mechanically smoothed. <br>2G - Finishes 2H, 2D or 2B, centreless ground, mechanically smoothed (optional). <br>P - Finishes 2H, 2D, 2B or 2G, specular polishing.
