PROPRIETARY Aeroval AN5 Heat Treatments


  • Solution treatment

    Heated at 900°C ± 14°C, held ≥ 2h, liquid quenched.

    Heated at 980°C ± 14°C, held ≥ 1h, liquid quenched.

    The solution treatment at 980°C produces a slightly coarser grain size inducing highest creep-rupture strength after aging.

    The solution treatment at 900°C produces a finer grain size with effect a better ductility and tensile strength at room temperature.

    Precipitation hardening treatment

    Heated at 720°C ± 14°C, held 16h, air cooled.

    Heated at 775°C ± 14°C + heated at 650°C ± 14°C, held 16h, air cooled.

    The second heat treatment is intended to increase notch strength.

    Hot working

    Forged at 1038-1150°C, air cooled.

    It is not recommend to subject the material to any hot forming operation below 930°C.
