PROPRIETARY SOLEIL A2 Heat Treatments
- Quenching: 950 - B1000°C, Oil or air cooling. Tempering: 250°C or 600 - 780°C, air cooling.
- Quenching: 950 - 1000°C (1742 - 1832°F). Oil or air cooling. Tempering: 250°C or 600 - 780°C (1112 - 1436°F), air cooling. Tempering heat treatment performed in the 300 - 600°C (572 - 1112°F) temperature range will be avoided because it results in higher susceptibility to stress corrosion attack and embrittlement. Time/temperature conditions in the 600 - 780°C (1112 - 1436°F) will be optimised in order to obtain the requested ductility/ hardness compromise. The maximum annealing conditions are obtained with a heat treatment at 900 - 950°C (1652 - 1742°F) followed by low cooling rate.
