PROPRIETARY BÖHLER V320 Heat Treatments
- Hot forming, forging: 1050 to 850°C
Slow cooling in furnace
Normalizing: 840 to 880°C / Air cooling
Annealing: 680 to 720°C, Controlled, slow cooling in furnace.
Stress relieving: In the quenched and tempered condition, approx. 30 - 50°C be low tempering temperature. In the annealed condition 600 to 650°C. Holding time: min 1 hour.
Hardening:
820 to 850°C / Water
830 to 860°C / Oil
Oil hardening for thin cross sections and complex shapes, water hardening for large sizes and parts of simple shape.
Tempering: 540 to 680°C / Air cooling
Tempering should immediately follow hardening. Holding time: min 1 hour. (refer to quench and temper chart)
Nitriding: The steel admits both gas and bath nitriding.
Surface hardening: 870 to 900°C / Water. This value applies to the quenched and tempered condition after a surface hardening treatment and stress relieving at 150-180°C. Holding time abt. 1 hour, for diameters up to 250 mm.
