PROPRIETARY BÖHLER E200 Heat Treatments
- Normalizing:
850 to 880°C / Air cooling
Carburising:
880 to 980°C; The following criteria must be considered when selecting the carburising temperature; the desired carburising time; the chosen carburising medium and available carburising equipment; the intended process and the required microstructure. When direct hardening, carburising is generally carried out below 950°C. Carburising temperatures up to over 1000°C are used in special cases.
Cooling from case hardening temperature:
Oil, water (Quenching in water for large components of simple shapes only)
Salt bath (160 - 250°C).
Intermediate annealing:
620 to 650°C / Cooling in furnace
Core hardening: 840 to 880°C / Oil, water (Quenching in water for large components of simple shapes only)
salt bath (160 - 250°C);
Case hardening: 780 to 820°C / Oil, water (Quenching in water for large components of simple shapes only)
Salt bath (160 - 250°C);
Tempering:
150 to 200°C
