PROPRIETARY Project 70+ Type 416 Stainless Heat Treatments
- Annealing: heat uniformly to 649/760ºC (1200/1400ºF); soak, then remove from the furnace and cool in air. Brinell hardness approximately 187. For maximum softness anneal from a temperature of 816/899ºC (1500/1650ºF) and cool in furnace.
Hardening: heat to 982/1038ºC (1800/1900ºF), soak at heat about 1/2 hour, quench in oil.
Tempering: temper this alloy in the range of 399/566ºC (750/1050ºF).
