ASTM A 387 Grade 91 Type 1 Class 2 Heat Treatments
- Grade 91 plates shall be thermally treated, either by normalizing and tempering or by accelerated cooling from the austenitizing temperature by air blasting or liquid quenching, followed by tempering. Plates shall be austenitized at 1040°C to 1080°C (1900°F to 1975°F) and shall be tempered at 730°C to 800°C (1350°F to 1470°F).
Plates ordered without required heat treatment shall be furnished in either the stress relieved or the annealed condition.
