AISI D-2 Heat Treatments


  • Preheat: 816°C (1500°F); Austenitizing: Salt Bath: 996°C (1825°F), Controlled Atmosphere Furnaces: 1010°C (1850°F); Austenitizing time: 10-20 minutes; Quench Medium: Air; Tempering: 204°C (400°F), Single-tempered for 2h
  • Preheated: 650-705°C; hardened and quenched: 982-1024°C, cooling in air. Tempered: 204-370°C. Annealed: 870-900°C, maximum rate of cooling: 22°C/hour.
