AISI 4135 Heat Treatments
- Specimens from product 12.67 mm and under in nominal thickness shall have tensile strength not lower than 862 MPa) or hardness not lower than 26 HRC, or equivalent after being hardened by quenching in oil from 871°C ± 6°C (1600°F ± 10°F) and tempered for not less than 30 minutes at not lower than 482°C (900°F).
- Heated to a suitable temperature at or above the upper critical temperature, but not exceeding 925°C (1700°F), held a sufficient length of time to attain essentially uniform temperature throughout, and cooled as appropriate for the condition specified.
