JIS SBV3 Heat Treatments
- Steel plates of 6 ≤ t ≤ 50 mm, shall be subjected to normalizing, stress relieving annealing or both normalizing and stress relieving annealing. Steel plates may be delivered as rolled upon agreement between the purchaser and the manufacturer.
Steel plates of t > 50 mm shall be normalized.
Normalizing of steel plates of 100 ≤ t ≤ 150 mm may include accelerated cooling to obtain the specified mechanical properties. In this case tempering normalizing shall be followed by tempering at 595°C to 705°C.
Upon approval of the purchaser and manufacturer normalizing of the steel plates t < 100 mm may also include accelerated cooling to improve the toughness of the steel plate. In this case normalizing shall be followed by tempering at 595°C to 705°C after normalizing.
