CSN 14 220 Heat Treatments


  • Die forging at 1250 to 800°C, cool air; Normalizing at 880 to 920°C, cool air; Soft annealing at 680 to 720°C, cool in the furnace; Case-hardening in the gas at 900 to 930°C, cool air in the cooling unit; Case-hardening in powder at 860 to 900°C, cool in a box or case hardening on air; Case-hardening in in salt bath 890°C to 910°C, cool in air; Hardening at 810 to 840°C, cooling in oil or in a bath at 150-200°C; Tempering at 150 to 200°C and cooling in the air; Refining hardening at 850 to 880°C, cooling in oil, thicker parts in water; Refining tempering, according to the strength desire, cool air.
