CSN 12 020 Heat Treatments


  • Forging at 1150 to 750° and cool slowly; Normalizing at 880 to 920°C and cool in air; Soft annealing at 680 to 720°C delay on temperature of about 4 hours, then cool in the furnace; Case-hardening in the gas at 900 to 930°C, cool air in the cooling unit; Case-hardening in powder at 860 to 900°C, cool in a box or case hardening on air; Case-hardening in in salt bath 890°C to 910°C, cool in air; Hardening at 780 to 810°C, cool water (by the simple components, it is possible the direct quenching of carburizing temperatures); Tempering at 150 to 200°C and cooling in the air.
