B.S. En8 Heat Treatments
- Bright bars shall be delivered in one of the following conditions: NGC1 - Finally normalized or hardened and tempered to conditions Q (TS=618/772 MPa) or R (TS=695/849 MPa) (without grain size control) . NGC2 - Normalized or hardened and tempered to conditions Q or R and finally bright drawn (without grain size control). GC1 - Controlled grain - finally normalized or hardened and tempered to conditions Q or R. GC2 - Controlled grain - normalized or hardened and tempered to conditions Q or R and finally bright drawn. Controlled grain steel to conditions GC1 and GC2 shall possess a McQuaid-Ehn grain size of 5-8 1) Normalizing: 830-860 °C; 2) Hardening (quenching in oil): 830-860 °C; Tempering: 550-660 °C
