B.S. S 142 Heat Treatments
- Softening treatment: The softening treatment shall consist of heating uniformly at a temperature of not less than 650°C. Final heat treatment: Hardening - Heat uniformly at a temperature between 830°C and 880°C, followed by cooling in oil or water, Tempering - Heat uniformly at a temperature of not less than 520°C, followed by cooling in air.
