VdTÜV Ti4 Heat Treatments
- Heat treatment is usually carried out in an oxidic atmosphere in electrical or gas-heated ovens, either using an inert gas or vacuum.
Annealing shall be carried out at temperatures between 650°C and 750°C.
The holding time is 3 min per mm of product thickness but at least 15 min while cooling down in air.
For high degrees of forming or large dimensions, a different holding time can be practical for annealing.
Stress relief heat treatment shall be carried out at 450°C to 600°C. The holding time is at least 30 min while cooling down in air. - Soft annealing is to be carried out at temperatures between 650°C and 750°C. The holding time is 3 min/mm thickness of the product, minimum 15 min air cooling.
Stress relief annealing is to be carried out at temperatures from 450°C to 600°C. The holding time is minimum 30 minutes, air cooling.
