SAE Allvac 718Plus Heat Treatments
- Bars, forgings and flash welded rings shall be solution heat treated by heating to a temperature within the range 954 to 982°C (1750 to 1800°F), holding at the selected temperature within ±14°C (±25°F) for 1 hour or a time commensurate with cross-sectional thickness, and cooling at a rate equivalent to an air cool or faster.
Response to Heat Treatment: Product, 127 mm and under in nominal diameter or least distance between parallel sides, after being precipitation heat treated by heating to 788°C ± 8 (1450°F ± 15°F ), hold at temperature for not less than 8 hours, cool at a rate not less than 56°C (100 °F) degrees per hour to 704°C ± 8 (1300°F ± 15°F), hold at 704°C ± 8 (1300 °F ± 15 °F) for not less than 8 hours, and cool at a rate equivalent to air cool or faster. - Solution Heat Treatment: heat to a temperature within the range 954 to 982°C (1750 to 1800 °F), hold at the selected temperature within ± 14°C (±25 °F) for 1 hour or a time commensurate with cross-sectional thickness, and cool at a rate equivalent to an air cool or faster.
