SAE Ti-4Al-2.5V-1.5Fe Heat Treatments
- Annealing: Heated to a temperature within the range 705 to 815°C (1300 to 1500°F), held at the selected temperature within ± 14°C (± 25°F) for a time commensurate with product thickness, and heating equipment and procedure used, and cooled at a rate which will produce product meeting the requirements.
Product shall be reheated in air to 720°C ± 14°C (1325°F ± 25°F), held at heat for 20 minutes ± 2 minutes, cooled at a rate equivalent to an air cool or slower, and descaled. - Solution Heat Treatment:
Heat to a temperature within the range 28 to 93°C (50 to 200°F) degrees below the beta transus, hold at the selected temperature within ±14°C (±25°F) for a time commensurate with section thickness and the heating equipment and procedure used, and cool at a rate equivalent to an air cool or faster.
Annealing:
Heat to a temperature within the range 677 to 760°C (1250 to 1400°F), hold at the selected temperature within ±14°C (±25°F) for not less than 1 hour, and cool as required.
After being heated to any temperature up to 649°C (1200°F), held at heat for 20 minutes ± 3 minutes, cooled in air, and descaled.
