PROPRIETARY N2360M Heat Treatments

  • Stress Relief: Must be performed after machining and before hardening. The relief procedure should involve slow heating to temperatures between 500 and 600°C and oven cooling to a temperature of 200°C. If applied after work, stress relief must be carried out at a temperature 50°C lower than the temperature of the last temper.

Quenching: Tempering heat should be between 1000 and 1020°C. It is recommended to pre-warm the tools. Cool in:
Appropriate oil, with agitation and heated between 40 and 70°C.
Molten salt bath, kept between 500 and 550°C.
    Calm air.

Tempering: Tools must be tempered immediately after quenching, as soon as they reach 60°C. Make at least 2 tempers and between each temper the parts must cool slowly to room temperature. The time of each tempering must be at least 2 hours. For pieces larger than 70 mm, the time must be calculated as a function of their dimension.
