Heat Treatments

  • The base composition and the heat treatment (quenching and tempering) prior to nitriding both have an influence on the results of nitriding treatment. The tempering temperature should not be less than 50°C higher than the nitriding temperature. A difference of less than 50°C should be the subject of a special agreement. <br /> Soft annealing at 640-660°C; <br /> Hardening at 940-960°C (time for austenitizing as a guide: 0.5h minimum) and quenching in water; <br /> Tempering at 620-660°C (time for tempering as a guide: 1h minimum; With very large sizes, the tempering temperature may be agreed at the time of enquiry and order).
