AISI 9Ni-4Co-0.30C Heat Treatments
- Normalizing: 885-913°C (1625-1675°F), air quenched. Annealing: 621-677°C (1150-1250°F). Duplex anneal: hold 4 ± 0.25 hours at 677 ± 13.9°C (1250 ± 25°F) , air cool to room temperature, then reheat to 621 ± 13.9°C (1150 ± 25°F) and hold for 8 ± 0.25 hours and air cool to room temperature.
Furnace cool to 538°C (1000°F) or below (rate of furnace cool should be 28°C (50°F) per hour or slower). Recommended subcritical anneal temperature is 677°C (1250°F).
Austenitizing: 802-829°C (1475-1525°F). Medium for quenching: oil. Cool to -73°C (-100°F) for 1 hour minimum within 2 hours after quenching and before tempering.
