SEW X8Ni9 Heat Treatments


  • Normalizing: Heated at 880-920°C

    Quenching and tempering:
    Hardened at 770-800°C (this temperature range must be as accurate as possible), water or oil quenched or air cooled. If air cooling is required during hardening, the steel must be normalized before hardening.
    Tempered at 540-580°C (this temperature range must be as accurate as possible). After tempering, fast cooled: the rate of cooling up to 300°C approx. 250-300°C/h.
