NB 16Mn Heat Treatments


  • Heat treatment for mechanical properties shall consist of:
    - either normalizing, which shall include austenitizing at between 850°C and 950°C, followed by air cooling,
    - or quenching in water, at a temperature of between 850°C and 950°C, followed by tempering at over 600°C.
  • Heat treated:
    Normalized or quenched at 880-920°C.
    Tempered at 600-640°C.
