ASME P 440 NJ4 Heat Treatments
- For mechanical tests, the test pieces shall be stress relieved by the following heat treatment: 545°C ± 15°C with the following additional conditions:
- maximum temperature rise:
a) 5500/thickness (in mm) = θ°C/hr above 300°C
b) 220°C for thickness less than or equal to 25 mm
- maximum holding time: 1 minute/mm with a minimum of 30 minutes;
- maximum temperature decrease: 5 500/thickness (in mm) = θ°C/hr until 300°C then air cooling.
