AFCEN 40 NCDV 7-03 Heat Treatments
- Austenitizing at a temperature between 820°C and 885°C, quenching by immersion in water, tempering at a temperature which will produce the requisite properties, followed by still air cooling. Nominal holding temperature shall be between 590°C and 650°C.
For drilled bars, water can be replaced by water + polymer. - Austenitizing between 820°C and 885°C, quenching by immersion, tempering at a temperature which will produce the requisite properties, followed by still air cooling. Nominal holding temperature shall be between 590°C and 630°C for a minimum time of 4 hours.
